The Barclays Premier League trophy is getting ready to leave Africa after a fantastic time with Barclays Home Winner Tshepo Motsemme in Gaborone, Botswana.

Following on from the party at his house yesterday evening, the trophy was given another warm welcome as it visited Tshepo’s office, and then went onto a Barclays branch in the city centre. A huge and exuberant crowd, many of them fellow Manchester United fans, gathered as Tshepo delivered the main attraction.

There was also time for a photo shoot outside the Botswana parliament building, one of Gaborone’s most recognisable sights.

The Barclays Premier League trophy’s African adventure continued today as it flew from Zambia to Botswana for Tshepo Motsemme’s Barclays Home Win visit in the capital city of Gaborone.

Once again, the winner, family and local media were out in force to meet the trophy off the plane before heading back to his home for a special welcome party organised by Barclays Botswana.

Close to 50 of Tshepo’s friends and family were waiting to celebrate the trophy’s arrival with cheering and vuvuzelas, and they shook the whole neighbourhood with noise as Tshepo emulated his hero Nemanja Vidic by hoisting the silverware above his head. Despite being one of Botswana’s coldest nights of the year, guests partied around the trophy well into the evening.

Tshepo’s Home Win visit continues tomorrow with trophy appearances at his office, the Botswana parliament building and a local Barclays branch before the African leg of the competion comes to an end in the afternoon. Look out for more photos right here…

The passion that African fans have for the Barclays Premier League was on display like never before as Barclays Home Win arrived in Zambian capital Lusaka earlier today to visit Manchester United fan Dennis Mukuka.

After arriving at the airport just after sunrise, the Barclays Premier League trophy headed straight off to national TV station ZNBC for an appearance on the Good Morning Zambia breakfast news show so that Dennis could explain his prize to the nation.

Dennis had decided to share the excitement of winning the trophy with his Barclays colleagues, and so the trophy was put on display at the Intercompany Relay where a number of them were running in what is a major annual sports event in the city. Crowds flocked to see the trophy, and to make Dennis’ day even more special he got to meet the First Lady of Zambia (below).

In the afternoon, the party moved on to the Barclays branch in the Manda Hill shopping mall where Dennis works as a cashier. Once again, a huge queue built up as fans clamoured to have their picture taken with the iconic silverware. Finally, the unforgettable experience ended at Dennis’ home with friends and family (below).

Two Manchester United fanatics in Africa are preparing for an unforgettable experience as Barclays Home Win touches down in Zambia and Botswana this weekend.

Dennis Musonda Mukuka in Lusaka, Zambia and Tshepo Motsemme in Gaborone, Botswana are the latest two lucky winners to get a chance to spend a day with the iconic Barclays Premier League trophy.

The trophy arrives in Lusaka on Saturday morning, and after visiting crowds at the Inter-Company Relay Dennis has chosen to take it with him to the Barclays branch in Manda Hill where he works, to share the excitement with his colleagues.

Faced with the choice of what to do with his special day on Monday, Tshepo has chosen to have the trophy, which is now decked out in red, white and black ribbons to mark Manchester United’s title triumph last season, visit him at his home in Gaborone West to share the excitement with family and friends. He will then take it into work for his colleagues to enjoy later in the day.

After its trip to Africa, the trophy will be heading on to locations as varied as Indonesia, Singapore, New Zealand, and the USA later in the year to be enjoyed by the other winners.

We’ve got some exciting news for Barclays Premier League fans in Africa – the Barclays Premier League Trophy is coming to Zambia and Botswana for the next two Barclays Home Win visits very soon.

The iconic trophy, adorned with red and black ribbons to mark Manchester United’s recent Barclays Premier League title win, will arrive in the Zambian capital Lusaka on 9 July to meet lucky winner Dennis Musonda Mukuka.

It will then fly over to Gaborone in Botswana for Manchester United fan Tshepo Motsemme’s day to remember on 11 July.
